One map within this bundle is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
Endorsed 'Mr. Sam. Hutchinsons Rough Drafts of Hope Survey. Hope Survey 1709' Surveyor: Samuel Hutchinson. Scale: no scale [1:50000]. Size: 30 x 38 cm., 5 sheets. Materials: ink on paper. Centred on: SK172835 Notes: shows named closes and open field with lands (dotted lines), areas, tenants, adjoining owners: buildings, streams, paths noted, some named: one sheet set of rough sketches as preliminary work for maps, finished map and survey book not seen.
