James Oakes of Riddings, ironworks
Administrative History
James Oakes, with his partners Saxelby and Forster, established Riddings Ironworks in 1800. From 1818 it became known as James Oakes. He acquired extensive estates and promoted the Erewash Valley Railway.
Custodial History
Acquired by Derbyshire Record Office in 1982.. List added to catalogue as part of the FindersKeepers project with the help of Elissa Rowe .
