Title
Marriage settlement by lease and release in trust, in consideration of marriage between Elizabeth Hurt of Wirksworth and Thomas Webb Edge of Sherborne, co Warwick and of £4,000, part of Elizabeth's portion and £1,000 payable on the death of her mother Mary Hurt widow, to provide for Elizabeth's dower and for portions for the younger children (an eldest son being provided for). Edge conveys to Philip Gell of Wirksworth Esq. and Rev Barlow Evetts of Strelly, co Notts, clerk, 2 manor Sherborne and Over Norton or Norton Lindsey, the rectory of Sherborne, glebe lands, tithes, various messuages, lands, commons in Sherborne including capital messuage built by Thomas Webb, blacksmith's shop (and mentioning common stocks), giving former tenants from whom and by whom purchased into the Webb family, 2 cottages and 1 messuage in West Street, Warwick, properties in Norton Lindsey, Wootten Wawen and Butlers Marston giving former tenants etc and other details asfor Sherborne lands, to hold to various uses, including some to the use of Francis Hurt of Alderwasley Esq. and John Bill of Stratford upon Avon doctor of physic for a term of 500 years.
