Administrative History | The old parish of Glossop was some 16 miles in length and 5 to 8 miles in width, and had two chapelries, Hayfield and Mellor. The parish included New Mills until 1831 (D3492); Whitfield (including Chunal) until 1836 (D2247); Charlesworth (inc. Chisworth and Simmondley) until 1849 (D4042); Hadfield (inc. Padfield) until 1874 (D1779); Dinting until 1875 (D3986); and Chinley with Buxworth (inc. Brownside) until 1908. |
