Administrative History
The Derwent Valley Water Board was established in 1899 to supply water to the cities of Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leicester. Dams were later built at Howden Reservoir (1912) and Derwent Reservoir (1916).

Acquired by Derbyshire Record Office in 1981.
