- Mr. Hilson, overseer of Blue Mountain, has left and been replaced by Thomas White; Charles Foulis is the new overseer of Grange Hill - "it is rather difficult to manage those [Grange Hill] negroes, their situation being so nigh the wood where there are a number of runaways ..."; the mason Perrin sent out never arrived; the new millwright lacks experience, 8 February 1775 (D239/M/E/17733)
- Have made 270 heavy hogsheads at Blue Mountain; emphasises the need for supplies from England to be sent out promptly; Perrin is correct in observing that it is difficult to maintain a ratio of one hogshead a 'negro' [Black peoples], May 1775 (D239/M/E/17734)
- Disagrees with Perrin's proposals for purchasing Blaw's 'negroes' [Black peoples], 25 July 1775 (D239/M/E/17736)
- Complains of the quality of supplies shipped from Ireland - "the herrings are a notorious imposition, one half the barrells being salt only"; will start to scrape out the sugars which accumulate at the bottom of the hogsheads; the buildings at Blue Mountain require urgent attention, 15 April 1776 (D239/M/E/17737)
- Comments on the new boiling pans for Blue Mountain, 1776-78 (D239/M/E/17739-42)
