Showing roads, gates, a brick kiln and neighbouring owners and areas, including parts to be seen from the apartments of Sir Henry and Lady Frances Harpur
This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
endorsed 'Map of Melbourn Common etc. from Mr. Grice & Mr. Grime. 1769'. Scale: no scale shown. Size: 38 x 45 cm. Materials: sepia ink on watermarked paper. Centred on: SK370245 Notes:no orientation, west at top. Shows Derby Hills Common, boundary of Caulk Park, Southwood Common, Furnace Pool and road to Derby from Caulk: notes 'This is the that part of the common called Melbourn Common which is seen from Sir Henry's and Lady Frances's Apartments'.
