TRANSLATION
Know [all men] now and in the future that I John de Bellehalle, chaplain, have given, granted and this my present charter confirmed, to John Franceys senior and Margery his wife certain lands and tenements and all their appurtenances in the vill of Calk [Calke], which I had from the aforesaid John in the said vill: To Have and To Hold all the aforesaid lands and tenements with all their appurtenances to the aforesaid John Franceys and Margery his wife [illegible] freely, well and in peace, of the capital lords of that fee by the services thence owed and accustomed by right. And I wish and grant [illegible] the aforesaid lands and tenements and all their appurtenances [illegible] to William, son of the aforesaid John Franceys, To Have and To Hold all the aforesaid lands and tenements [illegible] and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten, freely, lawfully, well and in peace, of the capital lords of that fee by the services owed and accustomed by right. And if, perchance, the same William should die without heirs of his body lawfully begotten, I wish and grant that all the aforesaid lands and tenements with all their appurtenances should remain with the heirs of John and Margery, To have and To hold the aforesaid lands and tenements with all their appurtenances freely, lawfully, well and in peace of the capital lords of that fee by the services thence owed and accustomed by right, forever. And verily I, the aforesaid John de Bellehalle and my heirs will warrant against all people all the aforesaid lands and tenements with all their appurtenances to the same John Franceys and Margery his wife [illegible] and the same William and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten, forever. In witness of which matter, I apply my seal to this my present charter. These [being] witnesses [names of the witnesses are illegible] and others. Given at Calk on the Tuesday after the feast of the Beheading of John the Baptist in the 34th year of the reign of Edward, the third after the Conquest
