With regard to the court rolls, they have not been transcribed exactly as they would have appeared in the original, with some re-arrangement of date information in particular. The book is bound in a parchment cover made up from a religious text with coloured initial letters and individual words highlighted in red ink. Loose inside is a sheet of notes by Bartholomow Kirkbye on the lordship of Alstonefield. |
