Description
This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
[Sketch map of area west of Moscar Cross c.1705]. Size: 20 x 16 cm. Materials: paper, torn at edges, black ink with later 'New House' added in sepia. Centred on: SK233884 Notes: labelled compass directions, east to top. No title, bounded by (in clockwise direction) Moscar Cross, Broadrake, Seven Stones and Wainstones: shows best, middle and worst sort of land: tracks, crudely drawn Cross, marker stones: endorsed with small acreage calculation: possibly drawn to resolve land dispute. Location: DRO, D2354Z/Z3; copy in DRO, D2354Z/Z6 photocopy, black and white: accompanying sheets giving witness testimonies and agreement dated 1705, DRO, D2354Z/Z4(2)
