Description
Describing the family’s origin in Northumberland, from which a “younger member” of the family settled near Chapel-en-le-Frith and founded a family there which held lands in and about Chapel-en-le-Frith c. 1350-1631. The family then migrated to Edale. Its later history is related, including marriage to an heiress of Mellor of Idridgehay.
Includes Mellor and Cresswell pedigree, 18th-19th cent and heraldic arms of Mellor and of Cresswell. Typescript
