Administrative History | Matlock Bath Pavilion and Gardens Company was founded in 1882 to develop a public garden, recreation ground and pavilion on an area of hillside at Matlock Bath. The foundation stone of the pavilion was laid in May 1883 and an opening ceremony was held in July 1884. John Nuttall held the post of architect and surveyor in the company.
