Administrative History
This circuit was originally known as the Alfreton Primitive Methodist Circuit which was established Nottingham Road, Alfreton; Somercotes; Portland Row; Inkerman; South Normanton; Morewood Moor; in 1879 and included churches at Derby Road and Wessington; Pinxton; Westhouses; New Selston and Leabrooks. From 1926 the circuit became known as the Alfreton and South Normanton Primitive Methodist Circuit. The South Normanton Circuit formed in 1948 (see MM 39-41) was united with this circuit in 1966 to form the Alfreton Circuit (see MM 42).
