Archive Reference / Library Class No.D2053/A/PI/6/2
TitleGrave register, containing entries from 1820-1887 obtained from the previous register, and continued with new entries to Mar 1990
Date1881-1990
DescriptionRepeats much of the information in D2053/A/PI/6/1, although this appears to be the official register, and has been printed specifically for the Parish.
The title page reads:
Burial Register of St Mary's Church in the Parish of Newton Solney and County of Derby, Made in the Month of October, in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty One, Being in part a reproduction of portions of the preceding Register*; and shewing by accompanying Plan, so far as is ascertainable, the positions of interments at the time of the restoration of the edifice and modifying of the surface of the Church-yard, 1880-1881. Also grave spaces set out and intended for present and future use; the former being tinted and edged green, and the latter red, and bearing numbers corresponding with numbered bricks set into the ground at the head of each grave and grave space respectively, as also with the numbers used in this Register.
*Note. Dating from March 11th 1813 to present time.

Presumably D2053/A/PI/6/1 was compiled in the first instance, although how they were both kept up to date is unclear. There are a number of discrepancies in the information recorded with various entries, and it is not clear which is correct. The volumes should be used in conjunction when searching for burial and grave information.

The entries are broadly chronological from 1917, although additional entries are still included against the earlier entries. However, there are no grave numbers included after 651. Where entered chronologically, entries from 1952 appear to have taken place in the new burial ground, with grave numbers recorded as N.G.1., N.G.2., etc. For this series of pages, the entries are in chronological order only, rather than consecutive grave number. This series also includes entries were the grave number is recorded as O.G. [i.e. Old Ground]
Throughout occasional comments about the individual or their death are recorded. From 1970, information tends to be included about the nature of the grave (i.e. single, double, etc.)

As of August 2016 this has not been deposited. For a digital copy see the R drive.
