Title
"Draft" Grave register
Date
1881-1939
Description
This "draft" grave register was compiled from 1881, including information from the register beginning in 1813, with references to burials as early as 1820, but not every entry seems to be recorded in the draft register. Those that are appear to correspondence with the pencil tick symbols against entries in D2053/A/PI/5/1. There are additions to this register up to 1939.
Grave number 1-350 are entered consecutively, there is a double page entitled 'St Marys Church Newton Solney - New Register' containing entries for graves 576, 473, part of 472 and 456, referring to three burials between Jun and Oct 1881. The consecutive entries for graves 351-660 follow under the initial heading 'The Commencement of Systematical Burials in spaces colored red on Plan'.
The last page of text, includes a number of additional entries, followed by a number of entries between 1917 and 1924 in the New Ground.
Throughout the volume, a range of different hands are found making it more difficult to identify which grave register was compiled first and how they worked together. There are a number of grave numbers without entries recorded in both registers.
