Administrative HistoryIn the 1760s, the Ottawa Indian Chief, Pontiac, led an uprising against British Forts, particularly around Detroit. The British Commandant, Henry Gladwin, of the 18th Regiment of Light Armed Foot was stationed in the area at the time. Gladwin was the son of Henry and Mary (nee Digby Dakeyne) Gladwin
