Administrative History | Boards of Guardians acquired responsibilities for rating valuation in 1862, under the Union Assessment Act of that year. These were superseded by the Rating and Valuations Act of 1925 (Sec. 17) which established Rating Assessment Committees to revise and approve draft valuation lists. These committees were replaced by local valuation panels under sections 33 and 44 of the Local Government Act 1948. The Union Assessment Committee records are records of the successor local authority. |
Custodial History | The Area Assessment Committee records were presented to Derbyshire Record Office under Section 4(1) of the Public Records Act in November 1978. |
