Further information: Injury treated by GP and due to swelling of foot and stiffness an X-ray was requested in December 1950 which showed no fracture. A 5 per cent disability award had been made which this appeal was against. In Turner's grounds of appeal he wrote: ' I consider the award is inadequate and is not based on the real disability but on my age in my opinion [...] before the accident I could do my work with comfort, and take advantage of incentives but now I can't make ordinary time [...] I have not had a square deal'.
