Further information: The claimant had an accident on 28 September 1948 and fractured his leg and ruptured the membrance in his left ear. The assessment was given at 70 per cent for 6 months, then 50 per cent and 40 per cent. The claimant was on 'very light work.' It was then assessed at 40 per cent and on a letter dated 22 October 1951 the claimant appealled. Medical reports state limited mobility and loss of hearing. On appeal the tribunal decided the assessment should be 40 per cent for life on the grounds that 'We are satisfied that the loss of hearing is permanent and [...] total. We also think that the leg is not likely to improve.'
