Description of accident: Lifting 12 foot arches
Further information: The claimant had an accident on 22 May 1950 while lifting 12 foot arches which resulted in prolapsed disc in his back and time spent in hospital. In the Initial Medical Board Report dated 21 August 1950 he is described as a 'healthy man.' He returned to light work as a Belt Attendant. An assessment of 20 per cent was made on 6 June 1951, followed by 3 per cent final from 31 July 1951 to 31 October 1951. There is a copy of an extract from the claimant's hospital notes included in the paperwork. On appeal (heard on 5 October 1951) the decision was not upheld and a new assessment was made of 10 per cent for 15 months.
