Title | Medical Appeal Tribunal case file for Noah Foulkes, aged 53, [occupation not stated] at [colliery not stated], relating to an Industrial Accident |
Date | 1951 |
Description | Date of birth: 18/06/1897 Marital status: Not given Address: 20 King Street, South Normanton Type of injury: Injuries - leg and shoulder Description of accident: While filling coal the roof fell and injured his right leg and left shoulder Further information: Foulkes injured his leg (a laceration) and shoulder in an accident on 26 August 1949 due to a fall of roof and spent time in hospital. The Initial Medical Board report dated 10 January 1949 details the injuries and it is illustrated with a leg diagram showing where the laceration occurred. The first provisional assessment was at 30 per cent, followed by 20 per cent dated 21 April 1950 and 3 per cent on 18 October 1950. It is noted that he has 'clawed toes.' In Foukes's appeal letter dated 9 January 1951 he claimed that 'I cannot stand any strain on the leg for any amount of time and the wound is continually discharging at various times causing pain and inconvenience whilst at work.' Following a handwritten letter by the claimant dated 26 February 1951 thanking the representative for their appearance at the hearing, the reply states that the decision had been varied by the Tribunal to 3 per cent for life. There is no Tribunal decision Report or paperwork. |
