Further information: LEGAL CASE The injuries caused were a fracture to the right forearm, left femur and right tibia. An Orthopaedic Specialist's report is included. A letter of appeal written on behalf of the claimant dated 20 November 1953 states 'He cannot sit in an ordinary chair, or do anything in the home, sitting in a bus, on any ordinary vehicle is out of the question. He has to pay for anything done for him living alone. His own doctor ridicules your assessment.' A letter to a solicitor's firm is included in the paperwork, as are extensive medical reports. A report dated 21 March 1952 states 'This man as a result of the above injuries is a permanent cripple for life [...] He is surprisingly cheerful.' There is a High Court writ from 1952 included which gives detail about the about the accident, the events leading up to it, and information about damages paid out.
