Further information: The extent of the disablement for Beat knee was assessed at 2 per cent for life. The grounds of appeal are earnings - related 'I have to go to work on Saturdays and Sundays to make wages anythink [sic] like as Odd worker. My wages for 5 days I 6.3.0 and when I go Saturdays and Sundays is 8. 8. 4. 0. A packer wage is £11. 0. to £12. 0,0. for 5 days.' On 19 October 1950 the Appeal board did not find that the inability to kneel was related to the prescribed disease. 'There is no evidence at the moment of chronic or acute bursitis [...] His present trouble is a well marked arthritis [...] which we do not think has been affected by the relevant disease'.
