Further information: Hallsworth had an accident on 28 September 1948 after which he was admitted to hospital. The Medical Board decided that 60 per cent for 6 months extent of disablement (50 per cent compound fracture and 10 per cent deafness). There is an audiogram included in the doctor's report dated 28 May 1949. On appeal the Tribunal decided 20 per cent for the deafness, with 70 per cent including the fracture, from 29 March 1949 for 6 months. Details of accident: Roof fell on thigh causing compound fracture and then 'felt a lump behind his left ear after the accident and has been deaf in the ear ever since'. ' The deafness…. Onset(is) sudden… and the character of the deafness is such that it could be ascribed to severe middle ear trauma.'
