Further information: This appeal was instigated by the Denby Branch NUM official contacting the Derbyshire Compensation Agent Mr Kitts and asking him to interview Colebourne 'I think Sat. would be the best time, as it's a time-taking journey by bus.[…] He does not work Saturdays'. After this the NUM requested that the case be referred to the Medical Appeal tribunal 'under the arrangement arrived at between the Ministry of National Insurance and the TUC, as I consideer that the assessment of 10% [...] does not give the man a square deal.'
