Further information: Worked at pit following the accident for 3 weeks - then had to give up because of head pains, dizziness and nervousness. Then bought a business - general grocery - and is still at this with help'. Medical board report of 8 December 1952 stated (omitted from Buxton's copy): 'this is a psychoneurosis imposed on an inadequate personality and no improvement is likely until the claim has been finalised'. The appeal brought the assessment down from 15 per cent.
