Description of accident: When shovelling, a prop struck him on the head and left shoulder - unconscious for 1/2 hour after the accident
Further information: Raymond Cupitt suffered a blow to the head on 17 June 1949 from a pit prop, breaking his helmet in two and leaving him unconscious for thirty minutes. In evidence included in the final report, the doctor who examined Cupitt stated: 'I think this man is suffering from a neurosis in which the accident was a factor'. There is reference to nystagmus on the medical reports. Mr Cupitt appealed against the decision 'no loss of faculty dated 19 May 1950 which was not upheld by the Tribunal on 21 November 1950. An award of 15 per cent disablement was made.
