Further information: The hernia occurred on 7 September 1948 and was claimed for on 10 August 1950. The claim for hearing on 11 October 1950 states that injury benefit was disallowed on the grounds that: 'there was not an industrial accident, on the ground [sic] that the claimant did not suffer personal injury by accident.' There is further paperwork relating to a tribunal hearing on 11 October 1950 and a handwritten note on this states 'adjourned for [?] evidence.'
