| Description | Date of birth: 31/03/1906 Marital status: Married Address: 56 Penn Street, Belper Type of injury: Injury - three fingers Description of accident: Attending to Gearhead when a piece of stone fell and trapped his finger Further information: The accident was on 25 March 1949. Costell appealed against the decision of 12 December 1949 of the assessment of 5 per cent for life. The grounds of appeal were 'the use of my hand as [sic] not improved and still stops me from Taking Contract work where I could earn more money and the hand will be a Liablaty [sic] in obtaining other work outside the Coal Industry.' On appeal disablement was increased from 5 per cent to 7 per cent on 29 March 1950. |
