Description of accident: Stone fell onto hand and fingers
Further information: Clare had an accident on 16 November 1948, after which he attended Mansfield Hospital for an operation. As of 5 May 1949 he was attending Crow Hill Rehabilitation Centre. The report describes Clare as 'healthy and well nourished. Slim build and dark complexion,' as well as describing the injury to his hand. A decision on 18 April by the Ministry was that the accident had not resulted in a loss of faculty and Clare appealed, which was overturned by the Medical Appeal Tribunal on 12 July 1950.
