| Title | Medical Appeal Tribunal case file for Walter Caulton, aged 33, [occupation not stated] at Denby Hall, relating to an Industrial Accident |
| Date | 1950 |
| Description | Date of birth: 13/12/1915 Marital status: Married Address: 4 Coupe Street, Pease Hill, Ripley Type of injury: Injury - hernia Description of accident: Fell over cutter at coal face which resulted in a hernia Further information: Mr Caulton had an accident on 17 November 1948 followed by an operation to treat a hernia. According to a letter from the NUM, he returned to 'light work' on 13 May 1949. The Medical Board decided he was fit to follow his regular occupation, and he appealed against the decision of 18 May 1949. The grounds for appeal were that 'I do not feel fit for the coal face, so soon after the operation'. A letter of 21 June 1949 refers to not yet having received notification of the hearing. There is also a letter dated 29th June 1949 requesting that Caulton obtains a report from his doctor. There is no record of the hearing or the decision it reached. |
