Further information: On 6 February 1950, Bunting developed beat knee. An assessment was made on 22 July 1950 which Bunting appealed against on the grounds that 'previous to my injury I was able to earn £2 per shift, but since my injury my earning [sic] have reduced to 30/- per shift, and in my opinion I shall not be able to earn full wages again owing to my injury, as I am off work again at present and I do not think 3 per cent is a right assessment for such an injury.' At the tribunal on 26 September 1950 the disablement was increased from 3 per cent to 7 per cent.'
