Further information: The accident in January 1955 led to a 7 per cent loss of faculty assessment and 'permanently incapable of following his regular occupation'. Morris appealed: 'The overtime which I am compelled to make has now ceased thus bringing Great Hardship to the Maintenance of my home'. Handwritten note from NUM representative Cyril Stone of Pleasley Colliery stated : 'The case I made out for Mr Morris to make his appeal was just a matter of formality, the insurance officer being satisfied that he had been wrongly assessed'.
