The correspondence contains detailed information about the type of shifts available to 'Electrician Labourers' and the pay earned. In the Summary of facts, it states he was involved in an accident on 7 July 1958 and on 9 June 1951 and that Special Hardship Allowance was being paid for both. The 1951 accident is the subject of this case. In the claimant's grounds of appeal dated 19 May 1959 he states '[...] I am not fit to go back to the eltric [sic] shop to do the heavy work I was doing at the time of accident. Has I have had to take a light job in the lamp room I only able to do 5 days a week [...]' The tribunal found against the claimant on 18 June 1959. There is a handwritten letter dated 19 August 1959 that is addressed to 'Dear Brother' and informs the reader that the claimant has 'since passed away from Cancer in the lungs.' |
