DescriptionDate of birth:
Marital status: Married
Address: 25 High Street, Loscoe
Type of benefit claimed: Special Hardship Allowance
Type of injury: Cerebral injury
Further information: There is substantial paperwork relating to this case including handwritten notes, letter and forms. The claim relates to Special Hardship Allowance. According to the Summary of facts on the reference to tribunal, dated 22 October 1956, Mr Lavender had an accident on 11 May 1949 resulting in 'crerebral circulation' injury. Injury benefit was paid up to and including 6 July 1949 - details of which are given. Special hardship allowance was stopped from 7 November 1956. The grounds for appeal refer to the accident in 1949 which Mr Lavender feels if it had not been for that, 'I should still be at work on my own work as a packer instead of a switch worker...' Within the paperwork there is also reference to a hernia. This is a complicated case with a great deal of paperwork with details about wages, medical information, personal history, Ministry procedures and letters from Mr Lavender. The most recent correspondence is dated 2 February 1957 expressing the view that there is no 'useful purpose being served in pursuing the matter, particularly in view of the medical report dated 26 October 1956.' There is also a reference to Mr Lavender's age (67).
