Further information: Mr Hughes had an accident in June 1954 for which he was off for 15 months and lost his big toes, while he was working on the coal face ripping. He returned to work on 19 September 1955 and went on to light work - gearhead driving. Special hardship allowance was payable at 27/6d weekly from 19 October 1955 to 17 April 1956. The tribunal on 18 January 1956 was allowed (it had previously been adjourned 13 December 1955 for wage information. In the chairman's evidence on the Report of Proceedings, there is some detail about the rate of pay for the different types of work. It states 'Loss of £5 per week. Never be able to do old job again. Has trouble walking to job.' Examples of original payslips included in paper work and details of wages - a variety of letters and other paperwork also included in file. |
