In a post-mortem the pathologist noted the secondary cause of death as 'pneumoconiosis (to be confirmed)'. The Pneumoconiosis Medical Panel concluded death was caused by cardiac failure due to myocardial fibrosis and coronary arteriosclerosis neither being the result of or being accelerated by the 'slight degree' of pneumoconiosis present'.
