Description	Date of birth: 18/04/1907 Marital status: Married Address: 5 Manor Road, Killamarsh Type of benefit claimed: Disablement Benefit Type of injury: Not given Further information: Booth was employed as Colliery Back Repair Man when he suffered an industrial accident (not described in these records) in June 1950. He received injury benefit and at the end of this period was awarded a disablement pension of 20 percent from 12 September 1950 to 11 January 1951. From September 1950 Booth began work as a haulage hand and was awarded a Special Hardship Allowance. He tried to renew this the following year but his claim was disallowed on the grounds that his overtime earnings had not been included in his pre-accident wages. The insurance Officer, in his submission to the tribunal, appears to have supported Booth's claim: 'As the actual difference between pre-accident and postaccident earnings is 1/11d it would appear that a wrong decision was given and an allowance on account of special hardship should have been made at the rate of 2/- per week [...] The Tribunal is therefore asked to revise the Insurance Officer's decision and to award a payment in addition to the disablement gratuity on account of special hardship'. There is no record of the tribunal's final decision.
