Title | Local Appeal Tribunal case file for Charles Bingham, aged 45, Packer; drawer; dataller; haulage hand at Shirland |
Date | 1950 |
Description | Date of birth: 11/04/1905 Marital status: Not given Address: New Higham, Shirland Type of benefit claimed: Special Hardship Allowance Type of injury: Injury - back; a piece of bind fell from the roof on to his back Further information: Bingham was in receipt of disablement benefit, assessed at 10 per cent for life, following his accident on 25 October 1948. In June 1950 he made a further claim for a Special Hardship Allowance and was referred to a Medical Board, which examined him on 22 June 1950. At the time of this second claim Bringham was working as a packer and drawer; following his second claim he was then employed by the colliery as a dataller. The Board judged that Bringham was capable of his regular occupation of packer and that he 'is not handicapped for it now'. The Insurance Officer, based on this advice, rejected the claim. Bingham had his case referred to the Local Appeal Tribunal and the hearing was scheduled for 10 August 1950. A Summary of Claim or Question was submitted but there is no record in this file of a final decision. Only a pencilled note - 'for' - on Form L.T.11(Rev) dated 4 August 1950 suggests the possible outcome of the case. |
