The case went to a Local Appeal Tribunal on 18 December 1950 but was adjourned so that further medical evidence could obtained. According to the report of the medical examiner, dated 1 February 1951, Baines had been treated for minor injuries at Derby Royal, then 13 weeks after the injury he was found to have a fracture dislocation of the lumbar spine. He returned to light work as belt-worker for four months before suffering a relapse. After medical evidence was submitted the hearing in mid-February at Sutton-in-Ashfield found in his favour. |
