| Title | Photographs of Miners' Welfare presentations |
| Date | [?1964]-1980 |
| Description | Eleven black and white photographs of various presentations that took place in miners' welfares in the 1960s. The file includes photographs of: Herbert Parkin, Area Secretary, presenting a National Coal Board (NCB) certificate of competencey to Raymond Russell; the presentation of a watch to Eric Varley by the Area Workshops in 1964; Peter Heathfield in attendance at what are described as 'Markham presentations'; a presentation of medals to members of the Whitwell branch of the National Union of Mineworkers' (NUM) Derbyshire Area; miners retired from Ireland Colliery; the Shirebrook Coal Queen for 1969.
In addition, the file contains seven black and white photographs that appear unrelated to the presentations. These include two photographs of the interior of an unnamed miners' welfare club, an unnamed and undated lecture, Herbert Parkin cutting a ribbon, the unveiling of a plaque marking the opening of a concert room and reception suite, commissioned by Sir Derek Ezra, Chairman of the National Coal Board (NCB), at an unnamed location in October 1980, and the swimming baths at Clay Cross Miners' Welfare after a fire. |
