Title"Map of Drainings at Allestree" being plans of field drainage in Allestree and Holbrook
Datec1859
DescriptionSeries of plans showing drainage in fields in Allestree. Each plan tends not to record the name of the field, but does give the names of the bordering fields, as well as showing neighbouring roads and buildings.
Scale: various
Some plans later in the volume give the date of drainage, the earliest being 1855 and the latest 1859. Still later, other plans have additional annotations, for example, relating to gas pipes or later drainage 1860-1861. The volume itself is undated and whilst it is possible that the plans were not all produced at the same time, the uniformity suggests they were produced by the same surveyor with the same ink.
Includes plans of
p. 5 large scale plan of Allestree Hall and immediate grounds
p. 6 small scale plan of Allestree Hall and surrounding grounds
p. 29 part of Allestree village and allotments
There are several unnumbered pages at the back that relate to property in Holbrook, including Botany Farm in the occupation of John Tempest, Farm occupied by John Byard, Day Park, as well as plans showing the toll bar house on the road between Holbrook and Makeney, the Lodge and adjacent smith's shop

Custodial HistoryThis item was accessioned in December 2023 having been found in the archive stores. It has been stamped on the inside cover with an old "Derbyshire County Records" stamp, which was probably in use as early as about 1911 (when the council occasionally took in historic records and stored them with the official county records of the council and the Quarter Sessions); the stamp continued to be used into the 1960s.
