| Administrative History | The Bradwell Primitive Methodist circuit covered a large part of northern Derbyshire. It was formed early in the nineteenth century, and in 1826 it covered places such as Glossop, Mottram, Marple Bridge, New Mills, Hope, Hathersage and Longstone. By 1918 the circuit comprised societies at Bradwell, Tideswell, Calver, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Castleton, Thornhill, Little Hucklow, Whitehough, Bugsworth, Dove Holes, Cressbrook and Hathersage.
The circuit existed until 1948, when it merged with the Peak Circuit to become the Peak and Bradwell Methodist Circuit. In 1958 the Bradwell element was dropped so that the circuit became the Peak Methodist Circuit. |
