Administrative History
Henry Coates (1828-1888) is described in census entries 1861-1881 and in a newspaper obituary as an architect and surveyor. For a time until his resignation in 1862 he was surveyor to Chesterfield Highways Board. He was for some years borough surveyor for Chesterfield.
