Memorandum that whereas there was dissention about the 24th year of Henry [1532-1533] about the course of the coal pits of Blackwell between the officers and bailiffs of Robert Sheffield, knight, and Raphe Longeforthe, knight, who held three parts and one part respectively of the lordship of Blackwell, Roger Greenhalgh and Thomas Leeke were requested to adjudicate between the bailiffs and the farmers and workmen of the pits; they determined that the pits should have their full course "as the sughe gyve leave", and that Sheffield should have three parts of the profits and Longeforthe one part
