Title
Copy promissory note by John Downes of Alfreton; he has purchased from Francis Revell of Brookhill Nottinghamshire clerk an estate at Alfreton for £700. An account bearing equal date shows £153 of the consideration to be due to Revell, and it is agreed that this sum shall lie in the hands of Downes as a security against the dower of Elizabeth wife of Revell, Downes giving security for the sum to Revell within three days in case he shall survive his wife, and in the meantime for payment of interest of 4½% (1 Mar 1732 [1733]). Further memorandum that the security is to be found from Mr. Wilkinson and either the said John Downes or Robert Downes of Sheffield. (1 Mar [1733])
