Grant by Edward Revell of Brouckhouse to John Grundye of Thurgarton, Nottingham., yeoman, (reciting that William Richardson has married Susan, daughter of John Watson of Newark upon Trent, Nottinghamshire, saddler, and afterwards absented himself from her company and allowed her very small maintenance, whereby she is in want and did complain to Her Majesty's Commissioners for Ecclesiastical Causes [High Court of Delegates] for an allowance. They attached William, who entered a bond to appear. Since then by mediation of friends it has been agreed that the suit shall not be prosecuted further, and Edward Revell at the request of William has entered into these indentures), of a yearly rent-charge of £5 out of 3 closes in Pinxton now in the occupation of the grantor or his assigns, called Dicke Fields and Gillian Fielde, to hold for the life of Susan, to be used for her maintenance. The closes are of an annual value of £6, over and above outgoings. Proviso that William shall not be molested in the name of Susan for maintenance, and that he shall not dwell with her. 20 Oct 38 Eliz
