Title
Lease for 500 years by Richard Clay of Rawthorne [Rowthorn p. Ault Hucknall] yeoman and Jone his wife to William Reason and Rowland Harrison servants to Elizabeth Countess of Shrewsbury of a messuage which the lessor now inhabits in Rawthorne, with lands, tenements, commons etc., with pasture for 4 oxen in a pasture in Rawthorne called Batley, being a tenth part of Batley pasture, with all other lands which Thomas Clay father of the lessor lately purchased from James Hardwicke deceased in Hucknall, Batley and Rawthorne. Pepper corn rent. The lessor covenants quiet possession, except of one piece of meadow, parcel of the premises called Purples, leased to Reginald Barker for 4 years. 3 May 35 Eliz
