Administrative History
This estate consisted of two parts 1) Carter Lane House and land bought by John Downing from William Marriott in 1746. 2) A larger estate bought by Zachary Downing from the executors of Robert Revell in 1733. The will of Zachary's son Zachary divided the estate between his daughters Catherine Downing, Ann Downing and Frances wife of John Blackwall; it was later inherited by Frances' daughter Emma wife of Rev. Charles Evans
