Offley family of Norton
Administrative History
The Offley family, who were nonconformists acquired Norton Hall by inheritance in the 17th century. It descended to Urith Offley who married Samuel Shore in 1759. The Shores lived at Norton Hall until 1843 when the estate was sold. Like the Offleys the Shores were nonconformists and Samuel Shore wrote a memoir of Robert Newton of Norton House.
